Nissan’s “MARCH” subcompact
Nissan, Japan’s third biggest carmaker, plans to transfer the production of its “March” subcompact cars to Thailand in an effort to deal with the strong yen and sluggish sales.
According to the company’s Global Communications unit, Nissan has decided to make such production shift which will make it become the first auto maker to move production of a top-selling model overseas.

The Bank of Thailand’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) yesterday decided to cut the policy interest rate by 75 basis points to 2.0 percent in a bid to boost Thai economy.
Dr.Duangmanee Vongpradhip, Bank of Thailand’s assistant governor for Monetary Policy Group, said the policy interest rate, which has been effective immediately, is now at the same level applied in January 2005.

Malaysia’s CIMB Group yesterday announced it controls 92.04 percent of BankThai after shareholders holding 49.91 percent of BankThai shares, or 3.33 billion shares in total, accepted its tender offer which had closed on January 6.
