Dr.Apichai Boontherawara has joined the Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank) as the bank’s president since July 1, 2006.
Before joining the EXIM Bank, Dr.Apichai, with 12-year experiences in various fields of the finance and banking sectors, was the managing director of the Asset Management Corporation (AMC) under Thailand’s Ministry of Finance. Earlier, he had been the first Thai general manager of Rabobank Nederland’s Thailand Representative Office for six years.

The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank) saw its loans and export credit insurance during last year increase by 47.3 percent while the business turnover rise 2.7 percent, when compared with those of the previous year.

The Cabinet on Tuesday gave an approval to Finance Ministry’s plan to borrow about 270 billion baht to support the state enterprises and to finance government’s initiatives to stimulate the economy.
Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij told the press that an estimate of 200 billion baht will be short-term loans, up to the period of three years, from domestic commercial banks and state financial institutions to help the state enterprises which need funds for their projects or to refinance existing loans.
