Banpu Plc, Thailand’s leading coal mining operator, plans to invest US$208 million in improving its coal mines in Indonesia and China this year.
Chanin Vongkusolkit, chief executive officer of Banpu, yesterday told the press that the company has planned to spend about US$208 million on the improvement of existing coal mine businesses in Indonesia and China.
About US$126 million, Chanin said, will be used for Bontang port expansion, infrastructure development at Bharinto Mine, mining equipment procurement at Indominco East Block, the final phase construction of Bontang coal-fired power plant and improvement works …

Thai government’s revenue collections in the first four months of fiscal 2009, starting October last year, dropped 16.2 percent from its earlier target to about 363.7 billion baht and is expected to further retreat.
Dr.Somchai Sujjapongse, director-general of the Ministry of Finance’s Fiscal Policy Office (FPO), yesterday said the government’s revenue during the first four months of fiscal 2009 declined by nearly 70.5 billion baht from its target to some 363.7 billion baht.

Betagro Plc, one of Thailand’s leading integrated agricultural businesses, today announced that it has formed a joint venture with Itoham Foods Inc of Japan and Ajinomoto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to manufacture processed meat products mainly for export.
The new company, “Itoham Betagro Foods Company Limited”, has been established with an initial registered capital of 172 million baht, with Betagro holding 40 percent of the stake in the company, Itoham Foods Inc 40 percent, Ajinomoto Thailand 15 percent and Itoham’s subsidiary Hoei & Co 5 percent.
