Anti-govt protesters plan mass rally at Parliament on Sunday
AFTER a grenade attack which killed a protester and wounded 23 others during their sit-ins on the Government House grounds, leaders of the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) today announced to stage a mass rally at the Parliament on Sunday, November 23, to oust the government.
PAD leaders accused that the government was behind the attack on the PAD protesters gathering inside the Government House compound at 3.25 a.m. today, which is the 78th day of the sit-ins on the grounds and the 180th day of the protest against last and current governments which are the proxies of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
In addition to the pre-dawn attack, by a grenade fired from an M 79 rocket-launcher, PAD protesters occupying Government House have earlier been hit by a number of small blasts, injuring many demonstrators and security volunteers but the protesters vowed not to leave Government House until the government steps down.
However, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, who is the brother-in-law of Thaksin, denied any involvement in the blast and said it is not the government to use force or violence against the protesters.
