The finance ministers of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and three East Asian partner nations of Japan, China, and South Korea will meet on February 22 in Phuket.
Thailand’s Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij yesterday said the meeting of the “ASEAN+3” finance ministers, also attended by the ASEAN secretary-general, Dr.Surin Pitsuwan, and President Haruhiko Kuroda of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is aimed mainly at encouraging greater financial cooperation among the member countries of the ASEAN community.

Thai PM: ASEAN summit will be in Hua Hin

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva yesterday announced that the venue of the 14th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, earlier planned to be held in Bangkok, will be in the beach resort of Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
The dates for ASEAN Summit will however remain unchanged from the scheduled February 27-March 1, the premier said.

Thai Cabinet agrees to hold ASEAN summit during Feb 27-Mar 1

Thailand’s Cabinet yesterday agreed to hold the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit between February 27-March 1 in Bangkok as planned.
According to Veerasak Footrakul, permanent secretary for Foreign Affairs, the Cabinet during the weekly meeting yesterday decided to give an approval to the schedule, earlier discussed and agreed upon by ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan and Thailand’s Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya.
