Thailand’s exports last month rose for the first time this year from November last year by 17.2 percent to US$13.84 billion while the value of the imports fell 2.2 percent from the same period last year to US$12.7 billion.

Thailand’s exports in January fell 26.5 percent from the same period last year to about US$10.50 billion after the country saw its exports dropped 20.5 and 14.6 percent in last November and December.
Last year, the country’s November exports sharply dropped as much as 22.24 percent from US$15.27 billion in October to US$11.87 billion before the value of exports in December slightly declined to US$11.60 billion.

Thailand’s rice export volume in January fell 37.74 percent from the same period last year but the Ministry of Commerce expects the rice exports throughout the year would be able to meet the target of 8.5-9.5 million tonnes.
According to director-general Apiradi Tantraporn of the Department of Foreign Trade, Thailand in January exported a total of 628,792 tonnes of rice, valued at US$331 million, compared to 1.01 million tonnes worth US$421 million during the first month of last year.
