HP iPAQ voice and data messengers arrive in Thailand

Hewlett-Packard will be introducing its latest members of 3G smartphone portfolio in Thai market from now till early next month.

HP’s iPAQ Data Messenger will arrive first at the price of 23,900 baht, inclusive of VAT, while iPAQ Voice Messenger will follow at 12,900 baht, also inclusive of VAT.

According an announcement made by HP Thailand on Wednesday, both iPAQ handhelds are the newest members of the HP smartphone portfolio, giving users access to email, voice and GPS while on the go.
The iPAQ Data Messenger is a sophisticated 3G smartphone with a large touchscreen, full slide-out alphanumeric keyboard and the built-in GPS capabilities, providing a new way to experience mobile messaging and navigation, while the HP iPAQ Voice Messenger is a sleek 3G smartphone with an integrated 20-key keypad that allows users to access powerful voice, email and GPS applications.

Chua Hwee Koon, vice president of HP’s Consumer PC and Handheld Business Group for Asia-Pacific and Japan, said the new HP iPAQ devices will help customers stay connected to the information, content and people more effectively.

With the iPAQ data and voice messengers, he said, the users can easily access email and the internet around the world with advanced 3G wireless technologies, including high-speed-packet-access (HSPA) broadband speeds, tri-band universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) and quad-band global system for mobile communication (GSM), general packet radio service (GPRS) and enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE).

The company’s statement said the iPAQ data and voice messengers feature Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile, making synchronising contacts, appointments and tasks so simple, as well as featuring ample memory to access important the MS Office Mobile files and store favourite photos and music with up to 8 gigabytes of convenient micro secure digital (SD) storage while the 3.1 mega-pixel autofocus camera with 5x digital zoom can make capturing and sharing photos an easy task. 
Sources said HP Thailand may be able to introduce iPAQ Data Messenger to Thai enthusiasts during the Thailand Mobile Expo 2009, which will run from today to Sunday at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
