Kan Trakulhoon, President of Siam Cement Plc

Kan Trakulhoon has been appointed as the president of Siam Cement Plc (SCC) since January 1, 2006, almost 29 years after joining Thailand’s biggest industrial conglomerate right after graduation.

Kan, 53, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Gold Medal, First-Class Honors) from Chulalongkorn University and Master’s Degrees in Engineering and Business Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He also completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard University, USA.

During his career at Siam Cement, Kan had held several key positions in the group. His successes included the establishment of a large petrochemical manufacturing in Asia when he was an executive vice president of PT Trans-Pacific Petrochemeical Indotama, Indonesia, a joint venture of SCC and a leading petrochemical company in Indonesia, Pertamina Ltd.

In 1999, Kan became the president of Cementhai Ceramics Co., Ltd. and he led the company to recover from the impacts of the world economic crisis in 1997, and successfully turned ceramics business from commodity products into fashionable products that provide higher profit to the company.

In 2003, he took the position of the vice president of Siam Cement Plc, taking care of financial, investment plan and human resource management, before being appointed as the company’s executive vice president in the following year.

Kan was finally appointed the president of Siam Cement to spearhead the country’s largest industrial conglomerate when he was 50 years old. He has been widely recognised as one of the leaders with visionary, with his management style which emphasises on the Total Quality Management of the organization and drives SCC toward innovative organization.
