About two weeks after the announcement to launch 3G iPhone in Thailand, TrueMove Co., Ltd. now comes up with a brilliant marketing strategy when it reveals on the company’s website that its customers and those of affiliated companies in True Corp can purchase much-awaiting gadget at the price of 24,500 baht, excluding value-added tax.

On the Christmas Eve, TrueMove stated that it will offer pre-registration for 3G iPhone to consumers via “www.truemove.com” or “www.weloveshopping.com” in order that this group of people can collect their 3G phones at the launch event during January 16-18 at Siam Paragon shopping complex in Bangkok.

Earlier, TrueMove said it will offer 24-month price plans for 3G iPhone customers, starting with 8GB model at 6,999 baht upfront and 1,199 baht monthly fee as the Bronze package. Those with pre-registration who can made payment by credit cards will only pay a minimum of 1,399 baht a month for the same model.

Now, on its website “www.truemove.com/iphone”, TrueMove states that it would “specially” offer two options for True customers, they are “basic package” which the customers can buy iPhone at 23,275 baht and pay 599 baht monthly fee for 12-month contract in the case of 8GB model or 27,075 baht for 16GB model and then pay the same amount of monthly fee. Those willing to buy only the 3G iPhone at the non-contract price may pay 24,500 baht, excluding VAT.

The latest move by TrueMove also conincides with a news report which was disclosed yesterday that Advanced Infor Service, the country’s largest mobile phone operator, had failed to reach an agreement with Apple Inc to also offer the 3G iPhone in Thai market.

Meanwhile, a business source in Thailand’s telecommunication industry disclosed that despite the availability of 3G hand phone in Thai market the latest hand phone technology is not operational because of the lack of 3G infrastructure, and each of the service providers still have to invest huge amount of money in their respective platform and equipment.
